Arthur R. Moore, 80, of Lewistown passed away at 7:50 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at his home.

Born June 26, 1937 in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Blair A. and Myrtle A. (Gutshall) Moore. He had no children and was the last of his immediate family having been preceded in death by an older brother, Allen B. Moore.

Arthur was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jane (Dell) Moore, whom he married on December 20, 1958 at the E.U.B. Church in Huntingdon. He is survived by his nieces and a nephew.

He was educated in the public-school system and graduated from Huntingdon High School, class of 1955. He was a member of the Pa. Army National Guard from 1960 until 1966 and attained the rank of Sargent, and was a communication chief.

Arthur was a member and past worshipful master of Mt. Mariah Lodge #300 F&AM located in Huntingdon. He was also a past member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Altoona, and was a past member of Jaffa Shrine in Altoona.

He was employed by the Pennsylvania Electric Company first as a salesman, and after having moved to Lewistown in 1982 as a Rite-of-Way buyer; and retired from Penelec on July 31, 1994.

He loved the outdoors and hunting and for many years owned a remote mountain cabin in North Eastern Huntingdon County. He was a history buff and a licensed amateur (HAM) radio operator.

A graveside service will be will be held at a later and at the convenience of the family. officiating.

Memorials can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
